THESCHEMES

 

 

The Halal Certification Schemes that we offer can be broadly categorized into 2 areas:-

 

A. Regional 

(1)  IFRC (Islamic Food Research Council) Certification Scheme

(2) Halal Food Council International (HFCI) Certification Scheme for Malaysia & Asian Region (JAKIM).

These schemes are suitable for businesses with regional presence in Asia and it also covers non-food industries including cosmetics, pharmaceutical, pet-food, etc.

B. Local (Singapore)

For Singapore-based food-related enterprises, the MUIS Halal Certification Scheme applies.  There are altogether 7 schemes available for businesses to  operate on.  Each of them is highlighted below :

​

 

1. Eating Establishment scheme

This scheme has a total of nine sub-schemes comprising of:

a) Hawker    b) Restaurant    c) Snack bar/ bakery     d) Halal section   e) School canteen

f) short-term stall    g) Food station    h) staff canteen stall    i) Food kiosk

​

Halal certification will cover the following areas:

1) transportation, receiving, storage and handling of raw materials and processing aids

2) preparation areas, dishing, storage, display and serving of food and drinks

3) collection, handling, washing and storage of equipment and utensils

4) dining areas (for restaurants only)

5) delivery of cooked food

​

2. Food Preparation Area Scheme

This scheme is applicable to catering company, central kitchen and pre-school kitchen

It covers the areas:

1) transportation, receiving storage and handling of raw material and processing aids.

2) preparation areas, dishing, storage, storage, display and serving of food and drinks

3) collection, handling, washing and storage of equipment/utensils.

3.  Product Scheme

Applicable to products that are manufactured or partially processed in Singapore

The scope of the scheme include:

1) transportation, receiving, storage and handling of raw materials and processing aids

2) production packaging, labelling and storage and transportation of finished products

3) washing and handling of equipment

​

4.  Whole Plant Scheme

This scheme applies to manufacturing facility, including all products that are manufactured therein, in Singapore.

Similar to the product scheme, it covers the following areas:

1)) transportation, receiving, storage and handling of raw materials and processing aids

2) production packaging, labeling and storage and transportation of finished products

3) washing and handling of equipment

5. Storage Facility Scheme

This scheme is limited to the storage facility or warehouse or any section thereof, in Singapore.

Hence the certification only covers transportation, receiving, storage and handling of products.

​

6. Poultry Scheme

Applicable to selected fresh whole poultry which are slaughtered in Singapore.

The certification includes poultry feed, transportation, receiving, stunning, slaughtering,scalding, de-feathering, evisceration, labelling, sorting and storage of poultry.

​

7.  Endorsement Scheme

This scheme shall apply in the following circumstances:

1) Imported finished product for sale in as-is condition, which has been Halal Certified by MUIS-recognised foreign Halal certification body in the country of origin

2) Exporting Singapore origin, finished product, Halal-certified by MUIS.

3) Exporting as-is condition, imported finished product, which has been Halal certified by MUIS-recognised foreign Halal certification body in the country of origin.

The scope of certification in this case includes receiving and storage of products.
